What happens during migration?
Your current site stays online throughout the process. We copy your files, databases and email to our infrastructure, test the result on a temporary address, then schedule the DNS cutover with you. You approve before, during and after.
Will my email be transferred?
Yes. We recreate your mailboxes with us and migrate their contents when your current provider technically allows it. The MX record cutover is planned so no messages are lost during the transition.
Will my site go offline during migration?
In most cases the cutover is imperceptible: the site keeps being served by the old host until the copy with us is validated. If a short freeze window is needed (for example an active store), we schedule it with you outside peak hours.
Where is my data hosted?
Your sites are hosted on our servers in Montreal. Backup copies are encrypted before transfer and the storage provider does not hold our decryption keys. DNS is served from four points of presence (Montreal, Toronto, Paris, Seattle).
How long are backups kept?
We keep 7 daily, 4 weekly and 6 monthly backups — so you can go back up to six months. Restorations are tested periodically under an internal procedure.
